Arrow Issue With Overclocking

When overclocking, do you up the voltage when the system wont boot or power on? How do you know when you need to up the voltage?

i wouldnt touch the voltage until you start getting blue screens and reboots and then only slightly up it, too much core volts will kill your CPU.
